At Home In a Dolls House - V&A Museum of Childhood

The most inspiring thing i have seen in the last few months happen to be an exhibition designed to entertain children, says a lot about me really doesn't it.

Security, privacy and the comfort of things have remained priorities for British homes for over 300 years, Dolls Houses can reflect these ideals back to us. They can be autobiographical, stage dreams and desired and provide an alternative to real life.

my degree show is coming up in the next few months and i was really struggling with what i wanted to do for the final show, until i walked into this museum.

i think i want to build a replica Dolls House for my family home. how i am going to do that is a totally different matter but i am sure i'll work it out in the next few weeks

Dolls House Improved

after installing the wire hanging house i realised that there were many faults with the structure of the house which needed to be improved upon before I can go onto making anything something a little more complicated.

the below pictures demonstrate the stages of development of the new house.

same wallpaper that was used on the wire house

Depression and the domestic space (bedroom)

I dont really know what I am doing at the moment all I know is I have to do something new. of course I'll be sticking to the same themes as before because well... as they are themes that keep in engaged in the work.
